Our resident trouble makers…
On arrival at their new home, the Andrew and Emily were greeted by a selection of peacocks who were already very much ensconced at the farm. These spectacular birds have stayed at Otium, and now patrol the vineyards with quiet authority (sometimes not that quiet actually), parading their stunning plumage to lucky visitors who they want to show off to. They were not always popular it turns out - having been recipients in the past of an ‘ASBO’ (an anti-social behaviour order - normally reserved for disturbers of the peace)! But Andrew and Emily couldn’t resist these fabulous creatures, so they have stayed and are now a major feature of Otium Wine Estate!
They no doubt swipe the odd grape when they are ripe before harvest - one hopes, leaving enough behind for the wines themselves. They tend to favour Pinot Noir - perhaps being fans of tannin?!
The ‘Delinquent Rosé’ - the first vintage if which is due to be released in a couple of weeks! - is named in their honour. We are sure they are aware and are very proud of their namesake wine!
